The Youth Policy Institute (YPI) is a not-for-profit research, evaluation, and policy center dedicated to improving the well-being of vulnerable youth and their families.

Research and Evaluation: YPI conducts state-of-the-art evaluations in the United States and Malawi of educational, health, mental health, substance abuse, violence prevention, and law enforcement programs implemented by government agencies, institutions of higher education, and community-based programs. For more than two decades, YPI has been developing and administering research-based data collection instruments, conducting rigorous evaluations, and developing accessible reports for program implementers and community stakeholders. YPI also supports the development of professional evaluation skills in Malawi.

Program Implementation: Working with governmental agencies, institutions of higher education, and community-based organizations, YPI assists communities to identify and implement appropriate evidence-based programs that support the positive development of children and youth. These programs typically aspire to improve educational achievement, reduce levels of violence and delinquency, and enhance the quality of health, mental health, and substance abuse services. To this end, YPI provides a wide range of pro bono and low-cost services in research and strategic planning, the development of evaluation programming to gauge ongoing levels of fidelity of implementation and program efficacy, fundraising supports, and sustainability planning.

Areas of Expertise: YPI provides research, evaluation, and program implementation services that assist communities to improve the effectiveness of educational, preventive, and therapeutic services for children, youth, young adults, and their families. The agency has substantial expertise in six critical areas of evidence-based programming:
